Tool # 1 “Know thyself.”
The most basic starting point is being completely open and honest with yourself. Here are some important questions to ask yourself. Based upon your own special circumstances there may be additional important questions for you to explore.
• How much money do I have right now for investing in promissory notes?
• How much time do I have right now to devote to the investing process?
• Am I a knowledgeable and experienced promissory notes investor, or I a beginner?
• What is my long-term investing goal or goals?
• Do I need monthly or quarterly cash income right now?
• If I suffer an investing setback, or a job loss, or an investing loss, what impact on my life will that have?
• If I am investing for retirement purposes, when do I plan to retire?
• Do I plan on being a solo investor, or a partner investor, or part of a group?
Tool # 2 “Understand and admit where and when you need guidance”
If you do not have all of the education, skills, and experience needed to make sound investments — admit it. Do not kid yourself; do not pretended that you are something that you are not. The only person that you will trick and hurt is yourself.
Since your main goal is to make successful promissory note investments, you should use as many tools as we can to achieve that goal. A key tool is an experienced, honest advisor.
No one was born knowing how to be a successful promissory note investor. Everyone had to start at the beginning and learn. You can engage a competent advisor to help you along at the beginning.
